The Harding Miller Education Foundation is an Australian charity that supports high potential but socio-economically disadvantaged girls across Australia through a $20,000 scholarship over four years of high school. This exciting program will help you to explore your full potential, through an eight-month hands-on extension and mentoring program, which runs from December to July. In this dynamic STEM education and exploration program, students will be given amazing opportunities, including attending residential and online camps, meeting experts in the industry, being matched and guided by a STEM Coach, finding inspiration from alumni, developing skills and gaining knowledge by completing a project, and connecting with like-minded peers.Participation is by invitation only, with invitations sent to students who performed strongly in one or more of the following:The Australian Mathematics Competition,The Big Science Competition,The Computational and Algorithmic Thinking Competition,The Junior Science Olympiad Exam.Invitations are sent to students via their school. Participants act as youth members, representing a state electorate in parliament. The bills debated in the program are based on the interests and concerns of our state's youth. They are then presented to the Governor, Premier, and Leader of the Opposition in WA for reflection and consideration. This program aims to equip 16-17-year-olds with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to actively participate in Australia's democratic and parliamentary system.Through hands-on learning experiences, including simulated parliamentary debates, workshops with political leaders, and real-world policy challenges, students will gain a deeper understanding of how Parliament works and the process by which bills are drafted, debated and passed into law.Youth Members will travel to Canberra for a five-day (four-night) program held across Australian Parliament House and the Museum of Australian Democracy, Old Parliament House. The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) Year 12 Program gives students that are about to start year 12 a broader understanding of study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Staying on campus at university colleges, students are immersed in science and technology. Participants participate in tours of science and technology facilities, learn about cutting-edge research, engage with industry partners and research providers, learn about university, training and STEM career pathways, mix with like-minded students their age from all over Australia, participate in social and team building activities, and network with former NYSF participants. The Simpson Prize is a civics-based, national research competition for Year 9 and 10 students which focuses on the service of Australians in World War One and World War Two. The 16 winners and runners-up, two from each state and territory, will travel to Canberra to participate in a 3-day study program in March 2026. The results of the 2026 Simpson Prize will be available on this website at the conclusion of the Canberra Study Program. In April the 8 winners will travel to an overseas destination for an extensive commemorative study tour culminating in Anzac Day ceremonies at that location.

The AMSI Female Specialist Maths Scholarships for 2026/7 are now open to current year 10 female students Australia-wide, who intend to study Specialist Maths in year 11 in 2026 and year 12 in 2027.This program aims to address the persistently low participation rates of female students in specialist mathematics by providing these scholars with vital resources and mentoring support. This scholarship is offered annually to final-year high school students commencing university the following year or first-year university students for their first year of university. Applications for 2026 are open until 30 January 2026. Up to five scholarships are available at AUD $1,000 each. For exceptional students, a single scholarship of AUD $5,000 will be offered paid in monthly installments during the academic year. All scholarships and awards have eligibility requirements and are awarded on merit. Assessments of applications are made by panels, one for each scholarship, of 3 to 5 people appointed for their appropriate experience/expertise. Applicants can apply for as many scholarships as they wish, however they can only win one scholarship annually. If you have any outstanding funds from a previous AWPA scholarship round, you are not eligible to apply. The successful applicants are announced at the presentation event usually held in conjunction with the AWPA annual conference. The AWPA WA Branch Aviation Award is recommended for WA applicants.
